In the O'Higgins region, the Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias (INIA) has the INIA Rayentué Regional Research Center, located in the Los Choapinos sector, in the Rengo commune and is oriented towards regional agricultural development, both in the Irrigation and Dryland areas.

In the irrigation area, the research is focused on validating and transferring technologies in fruit growing, horticulture and in the efficient use of water resources. In the rainfed area, INIA Rayentué, has the INIA Hidango Experimental Center, located in the Litueche commune, which contributes to the agricultural development of the coastal dry land and its adaptation to climate change, through the validation and technology transfer with projects of genetic improvement of wheat and quinoa and the production of technological inputs such as wheat seeds, oats, and sheep breeders.
