In Paillaco, a seminar was held jointly organized by the Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) and the Institute of Agricultural Development (INDAP) in the Los Ríos Region.

Through a seminar that was held today, Friday, June 22, in the Santiago Santana auditorium, located at 257 Camilo Henríquez street, in the Paillaco commune, the Ministry of Agriculture in the Los Ríos Region is working to take better advantage of the benefits of the System of Incentives for the Agro-Environmental Sustainability of Agricultural Soils (SIRSD-S), which finances up to 90 percent of the net cost of phosphorus fertilization costs, the recovery of degraded agricultural soils or their maintenance. This was announced by the Seremi of Agriculture, Moira Henzi Becker, who explained that "this seminar seeks to complement the action of the program, through better management of the meadows and the increase in productivity generated by fertilization."

INDAP's SIRSD-S Program seeks to recover the productive potential of degraded agricultural soils and maintain the levels of improvement achieved in the farms of Peasant Family Agriculture. Through this instrument, the State finances up to 90% of the total net cost for carrying out tasks and / or practices aimed at the recovery of degraded agricultural soils and / or the maintenance of agricultural soils already recovered. It also finances the cost of the technical assistance required for the formulation and, when appropriate, for the execution of the management plans, while the remaining percentage must be provided by the applicant.

Constanza Sepúlveda, INIA Remehue extension agent and coordinator of the activity, reported that the following talks were held at this seminar: "Inorganic Fertilizer Quality", by researcher Erika Vistoso; "New tools for the quantification of the nutritional quality of grasslands", dictated by Iris Lobos, specialist in analysis using Near Infrared Spectroscopy known as NIRS; "Pasture production and nutrient availability", by Patricio Sandaña, Ph.D. agronomist engineer. and a researcher specialized in fertilization issues in crops and grasslands, all professionals from INIA Remehue.
