Objetivo General

The goal of this project is understanding the behaviour and fate of perchlorate in soil, including potential plant uptake, movement in the soil profile and intake levels in different age groups.

Objetivos Específicos

  • Develop, validate and implement an analytical method for quantifying perchlorate in water, plant and fertilizers).
  • Evaluate under hydroponic conditions the uptake and accumulation of perchlorate in the roots, stems and leaves of two plant species (spinach and chard) as a function of temperature and relative humidity, as well as the effect of other anions on the absorption of perchlorate by the plants.
  • Evaluate the distribution of perchlorate in the soil-plant system under controlled irrigation.
  • Estimate daily intake levels of perchlorate in different age groups.
