INSTITUTION

The Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA), created in 1964, is a private, non-profit corporation under the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture.

INIA has various Regional Research Centers (CRI in Spanish), Research Departments, Laboratories and Libraries spread out throughout the country, staffed with highly qualified professionals, all of which contribute to improve the development of the agricultural and livestock sector.

Each Regional Research Center has a Board of Directors, represented by public and private sector organizations involved in the local productive food chain, which provides guidelines for specific research needs.

Specialty Groups have been set up to complement the work carried out in the regions, which include researchers dealing with specific problems requiring a national outlook.
